Root Canals Relieve Pain — They Don't Cause It

A root canal treats infection deep inside a tooth, the throbbing, hot/cold-sensitive, keep-you-up-at-night kind of pain. The procedure itself is done under thorough local anesthetic and feels much like getting a filling; what it actually does is end the toothache while saving your natural tooth, which is almost always better than removing it. Conveniently located in Kingsland Plaza on Macleod Trail — minutes from Acadia, Fairview, Haysboro, Southwood, and Chinook Station.

How Root Canal Treatment Works

  1. Diagnosis — an exam and imaging confirm whether the tooth’s nerve is infected and whether a root canal is the right fix.
  2. Comfortable treatment — the tooth is fully frozen; the infected tissue is removed and the canals are cleaned, disinfected, and sealed.
  3. Protecting the tooth — most back teeth need a crown afterward. With our in-house CEREC technology, that crown can often be made and placed the same day, no weeks in a temporary.

What Does a Root Canal Cost in Calgary?

Root canal therapy in Calgary commonly ranges from $800 to $1,800, depending mainly on which tooth is treated, front teeth are simpler, molars have more canals. A protective crown, when needed, is quoted separately. Our fees follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, we bill insurance directly, and you’ll have an exact written quote after your exam before anything begins.

Common Questions

Does a root canal hurt? The area is completely frozen; most patients say it felt like a long filling. It’s the infection that hurts, treatment stops that.

Is it better to just pull the tooth? Usually not, keeping your natural tooth protects your bite and avoids the bigger cost of replacing it later. Where extraction genuinely is the better option, we’ll say so plainly.

How long does it take? Typically one or two visits of about an hour, depending on the tooth.

Will I need time off work? Most patients return to normal activities the same day, with mild tenderness for a few days.
